Attractions in Kristiansand
Here are some interesting places you should visit and experience while in this Norwegian city.
- The Markensgate - after spending your first night in a hotel or inn, what you need the next day is a little personal stuff and perhaps sample a few other things to buy. The markensgate is the biggest commercial place within the city where buying and selling happens every minute. After finding a secure point to park your car rental, you can take a stroll through the pedestrian street and have a morning of window shopping.
- Domkirke Cathedral - not only will you be amazed by the architecture of this age old cathedral, you will also be absorbed in the many activities going on there. On one part an orchestra may be going while a game tournament may be going on in another section. On the altar is a painting of Jesus, after his resurrection, as he appeared to Cleopas on the way to Emaus; a perfect impression of the artist Eilie Peterssen.
- The Beach - spending some time splashing on the shore is quite a good sport especially in the Norwegian summer. When you drive down to the eastern part of the town, there is a small beach located there and where locals come to enjoy some water activities. If you feel this place is crowded you can walk over to the Bendiktsbukta where it’s a bit private.
- The Festival City - Kristiansand is known for hosting many festivals for the locals and tourists who come to revel in the town. There is lots of music in the streets during the festivals and several comical acts from travelling theatres.
Make sure you enjoy a lot more of this Norwegian city before you take your flight back home. It is much easier moving with a rental car since you can access so many places easily.
